Folks, believe this or not, McDonalds is really in Makkah. They have branches scattered all over Makkah. There is even one close to Masjid Al Haram.

Other WESTERN-owned businesses are all in Makkah: namely, these are Burger King, KFC, Starbucks, Nike, Coco Cola, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Baskin Robbins, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Hilton Hotel, Cartier, Chanel, Rolex, Gucci, Christian Dior, etc.

Before the development of these western businesses in Makkah, the sites were once those of the famous Islamic heritages.

For example, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq鈥檚 house is now the Makkah Hilton Hotel (American-owned).

The trillion dollar question: Is this why the Saudi government has been heavily promoting Islam and at same time commercializing Makkah for new RICH western converts? If the prices of foods and drinks soars very high in Makkah, how will the poorest pilgrims on earth can ever afford Hajj?

I live in SaudiArabia and so what if there is Mcdonalds in the city.. Its not like they opened a kiosk right there in the mosque.. .. The city is exactly that a city.. which has restaurants, grocery stores, banks, hospitals.. just like any other city on earth... But whats inside the grounds of the grand mosque is sacred, you wont find a booth there passing out burgers.. so dont worry.. islam is safe!...

by some answers above.. People are ignorant of what Mecca is... Mecca is a city, a town just like any city on earth.. Inside the city is the Grand Mosque of Islam... the mosque itself isnt called "Mecca".. thats the name of the town...
the mosque has its own title.. "Al Masjid, Al-harrem" . The black building inside the mosque is called the Kaaba (cube in arabic)..... it has a cornerstone which is the black stone, which is derived from a meteorite.. its not an earthly stone... It was placed there originally by Abraham and his son Ishmael when they built the Kaaba to worship God.. (not by pagans as some believe)... We do not worship the stone, nor the building.. its just a focal point of reference to face when we pray..
there are references to many prophets in the bible who also placed stones on the ground to face when they prayed, but not meaning they prayed to these stones, just used them as an alter or a place of worship a point of reference.. same as we have..

Not surprised, they have McDonalds all over the world now. I ate some in Italy. Anyways, I'm not into food from there. Do you know what they put in it? Fast food chains put the most disgusting stuff in their food and they expect people to eat it. I thought Makkah was a holy place? Why so many shops?

Starbucks is the only place I go to, just for coffee though. And maybe hot chocolate. BUT thats it!
Mecca is one of the biggest rip-offs in the entire world. The cost of Haj and Umra is a total con. Saudi is not commercialising Mecca for rich western converts (there are none, rich people don't become muslim). Mecca is commercialised to fleece Muslims who have a duty to go there. It's becoming like a circus.
