Is Dick's Burgers as good as people say?

We moved up from California last year. I drove past the Holman Rd Dick's every day for about 6 months, and I was always curious about it, but I never got around to stopping. Some people and some websites claim it's a "Seattle Icon". Is this true?



It's a 30 minute drive for us to get to one...is it worth it to go out of our way? Is there any one location that's better than the others?Is Dick's Burgers as good as people say?
Personally I love the fries and the milkshakes. The burgers, eh, kinda mediocre. They're super cheap, though. You can get two burgers, two drinks and two fries for about $8.

The reason I like to support Dick's is that the owner is probably one of the best biz owners around when it comes to his employees. Even his part timers get full benefits.
The part I find amusing is that you drove by Dick's every day for six months and,,, "never got around to stopping".

If you moved up from Cali then you know what In-N-Out Burgers are. And comparing Dick's to them is severely sacrilegious. Sorry I-N-O fans good stuff, but it just ain't got it.

The trick to Dick's burger's is not to pull up and jump out like every other starving-for-a-Deluxe-Seattlite and order, you watch for when the fresh Deluxe's are being wrapped and have just come off of the grill. Get a rhythm, get a flow of everything down to when the fresh fries are coming up. Watch for the salt,,, you'll know when the time is right!

Then,,, GET,, OUT,,, OF,,, YOUR,,, CAR,,, AND,,, POP,,, THAT,,, ORDER!!!

I lived in Seattle a number of years, and I can assure you there are better burgers to be had. The thing is that Seattle has always favored local restaurants over national chains, so it's Dick's instead of McDonald's.... plus you can get tartar sauce with your fries (a Seattle thing).
If I were driving 30 minutes, I wouldn't be going to Dick's. The fries are good, the shakes are great and the burgers are just so-so. But they are a local institution and we love 'em.Is Dick's Burgers as good as people say?
