I was just accepted in a fast food restaurant, which pays in average $10 dollars per hour and I am only working 2 days because of the location (3 train stations from my house, 1 station approximately 5 mins) and I need to concentrate on my studies as well to get really high scores to get in to the university I want. Not to mention the walking from the house to the station, and from the workplace to the station, it's half an hour journey each. I found a bakery near my house, it's like 5 mins walking down thereand it's pay is about the same as the fast food restaurant. And because it's close, I could probably work more days in a week.
I don't really like working in the fast food, it's hectic when it's busy and there are so many menus with different fillings (for burgers) and the other staff taught me like they think I already know the basics, even though I said many times that I still don't understand and can't remember all, and slow learner and stuff. And the head manager came over and he looked displeased when I said I only work for two days in a week, and he said unless I go there everyday, I won't be able to catch up and learn quickly how to make the burgers and using the machines around the kitchen, because I will easily forget them, if I work only two days. I have feeling that he will tell of the manager who hired me, because they needed someone who can work long hours, and I don't and even though they said they are very flexible with time and consider the staff's schedules, they don't appear to be so.
So I reckon if I work there only twice a week, while mastering all the menus needs time, and getting there takes up lot of time, and I still have to fork out $8 tickets day return for the days I work.
In conclusion, I need a part time job and flexible time, and close to my house, so I think that I should get the bakery shop, and the MAIN PROBLEM HERE IS how can I speak to my manager about resigning when I just started there today?I just started my training today at work and I got a better job offer, should I quit the first one?
Of course you should quit the fast food job! Call the manager in the morning, apologize %26amp; simply tell him/ her the job is not a good fit %26amp; thank him/ her for giving you the opportunity. Ask if a two week notice is appropriate. Chances are they will not want to waste time training you so will not want an official notice.I just started my training today at work and I got a better job offer, should I quit the first one?
Wow, you know what, you are a good material for a business manager. You narrowed down and simplified your supposedly complicated problem, to a simple question of "HOW TO SPEAK TO MY MANAGER ABOUT RESIGNING WHEN I JUST STARTED THERE TODAY"
Ask for a moment of the time of your manager, say, it is very important, and when you get it, tell him exactly the way you related your situation above. There is no better way than that. It is honest and straightforward, he will even appreciate you for doing that. That is it, may God bless you.I just started my training today at work and I got a better job offer, should I quit the first one?
first one you can resign and continue the latest job which is nearer to your house. in future you can start new bakery with your own exp and develop yourself.
