Recent tests carried out in one of those restaurants showed a surprising and alarming result, one hamburger contained a component which shouldn麓t have been in it.
Different analysis and tests, including DNA were made in private laboratories and prestigious universities of the United States in order to verify the composition and the contamination level in the hamburger, such tests proved that in such hamburger there were traces of rat meat.

Introduction
A sample of hamburger with a suspect foreign material was delivered to the laboratory for physical and chemical analysis to identify the material. Visual and photomicrographic examinations would be conducted. We would dissolve small portions in a suitable solvent and separate the components by GC/MS. The NIST 129K mass spectroscopy library would be used for identification. Several microbes would also be checked.
Results
Results are summarized in the Table. Data are given in the Appendix.
Conclusions
The suspect material consists of several thick hairs which appear to be of animal origin. The type of hair can possibly be determined using DNA analysis. The levels of coliform and mold are extremely high. See Appendix.
